Other benefits that we can get from Infrared!

And here are some benefits that we can get from Infrared!

1. Night Vision

Because of the infrared, we can see the things that we can’t see in a low light condition.

Iraq Perspectives 2 Night Vision

2. Heating

> Infrared can be used in cooking and heating food.

Infrared heating is also becoming more popular in industrial manufacturing processes, e.g. curing of coatings, forming of plastics, etc.

3. Infrared can cure some diseases.

it raises the white blood cell count inside your body, which promotes greater immunity and healing. It is used to diagnose eye diseases by taking detailed pictures of the deep, hard-to-see blood vessels at the back of the eye. As a special source of heat, it is used to treat certain diseases, such as hemorrhoids.

Negative Effects of Infrared!

Infrared light poses benefits and dangers to our health. But it is important to acknowledge its potential risks.

Negative effects of Infrared:

1.  Eye damage

The human eye is sensitive to all radiation, including infrared radiation. Exposure to intense infrared radiation can damage the lens and the cornea of the eye. That is why staring at the sun is harmful (because sun has an infrared radiation). People who work near intense radiation must wear goggles  to protect their eyes in this kind of radiation because if they continuously work without wearing goggles, this can lead them to irreversible blindness.

2. Skin Damage

Infrared waves in high enough concentrations can also damage skin and tissues. Infrared radiation waves are the same as heat waves. One of the example of a high intensity of heat is laser beams. These lasers can be strong enough to burn a hole through metal and so could certainly damage flesh. Extremely powerful lasers are even being developed for military use as a weapon.

3. Sun Burn

Infrared rays can cause your skin to burn because of its high intensity of heat. You can get this especially when you are lack of melanin. So, we should use sunscreen to prevent sun burn.

4. Greenhouse effect

The earth’s surface and the clouds above it absorb radiation from the sun’s rays and reemit it as infrared radiation back out into the atmosphere. When the air above the earth’s surface has a high concentration of water vapor, elements such as sulfur and nitrogen, and chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons, the infrared radiation becomes trapped on the earth. This causes increased temperatures and changes in weather that could be harmful to people and animals.

So now, you know what are the harmful effects of the Infrared radiation. Therefore ,we should be more careful in using things that have a Infrared radiation to prevent those things.

Benefits of Infrared

1. Therapy

2. Remote Control

It gives out communicating with the receiver we’re pointing it at.

3. Infrared is good for cameras. since we can’t see the light it emits but cameras can. It be implemented in a ring around a camera lens to simulate light the camera uses to essentially see in the dark yet, when we see the camera it looks like no light is on.

Thanks to infrared we can use this gadgets for our own beneficials.

Now we can take selfies on the use camera, we can change the channels that we would like to watch in TV by using TV remote control and for our body pain we can use Infrared therapy.

The discovery of Infrared!

Infrared was discovered by an astronomer and composer William Herschel in 1800.98,Sir William Herschel,by Lemuel Francis Abbott

He discovered it testing by filters for the sun so he could observe sun spots. When using a red filter he found there was a lot of heat produced. Herschel discovered infrared radiation in sunlight by passing it through a prism and holding a thermometer just beyond the red end of the visible spectrum. This thermometer was meant to be a control to measure the ambient air temperature in the room. He was shocked when it showed a higher temperature than the visible spectrum. Further experimentation led to Herschel’s conclusion that there must be an invisible form of light beyond the visible spectrum.

All thanks to him. Because if he didn’t discovered the Infrared, we cannot use some object that will be using this kind of wave. 🙂William-Herschel-Quotes-1

What is Infrared?

We know that you already know some facts about Infrared by reading the link that we posted before this (But if you did not read it yet, check out our last post 🙂 ).

You want to learn some more about Infrared? Read this article… 😉

Before we proceed to the benefits and harmful effects of Infrared, we should know first what is the meaning of Infrared. 😀

Infrared waves have wavelengths longer than visible and shorter than microwave, and have frequencies lower than visible and higher than microwaves portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. The wavelength of the Infrared is 700 nanometers (frequency 430 THz) to 1 mm (300 GHz).

infrared

Infrared is broken into three categories:

>Near-Infrared – closest to visible light.

>Far-Infrared – closer to the microwave region.

>Mid-Infrared –  lies between this two.

Although Infrared is not visible, humans can sense it as heat. Put your hand in a hot oven to experience it!

The higher the temperature, the more the atoms and molecules move and the more the infrared radiation they produce. And vice versa. Even objects that are cold, like ice cube, emits infrared.

WAVES

(Just leave some comment/s if you have some violent reaction about this.  But not in a harsh way. We appreciate more if you will suggest some suggestion/s in a polite way. Thank you for your cooperation. God bless everyone! 🙂  -Neexa)

First of all: ‘What is a wave?’

A wave is any form of disturbance that propagates. It consists of vibrations which transfer energy from one place to another without actually propagating the particles. This means that the particles do not go with the waves: they just transfer energy from one particle to another. Waves can be transmitted through a medium.blue_wave

Refraction

Refraction is the change in direction of a wave due to a change in its transmission medium.

The phase velocity of the wave is changed but its frequency remains constant.

Example: When you put the pecil in a glass  with water, the image of the pencil in the water is bigger than the uusual size of the pencil.

WHY DOES THAT HAPPENS????

Well it happens, because the air is faster than the water.

Waves can travel faster in the air than the water.

Because the air is thin  and the water is thick.

Thats why it can travel faster in the air.

When it pass through the  air then to water the light  ray will bend.
